Biography: Fay Russell Thorpe, 94, of Little Rock, died March 8, 2011. She was born in Pine Bluff to the late Fay Goza Russell and Samuel Butler Russell. She was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School and also the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where she was a member of Chi Omega. She retired from the Little Rock School District where she was secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. She was preceded in death husband Wilfred Egner Thorpe and brother Sam Russell. She is survived by her children, Todd Thorpe and his wife Sandra of Quitman; two daughters, Betty Thorpe and Sherry Walker, both of Little Rock. Four grandchildren, Melissa and husband Ronnie Pool of Lonoke, Darcey and husband Keith Evans of Hampton, Heather Whillock of Springdale, and Chris Walker of El Paso; and 6 great grandchildren. A special thanks to Chenal Heights Assisted Living for the care she received and Dr. Victoria Akin at UAMS. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of Arkansas, 211 Natural Resourced Dr, Little Rock AR 72205 or to a favorite charity. Our mother died in 2008 at age 94 and sadly, our brother, Edward, died April 2010.
