Biography: Don Lee Countryman, age 80, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Arkansas Hospice after a long illness. He was born July 15, 1930, in North Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Alvin Bussey Countryman, Sr. and Lillian Naomi May Countryman. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Alvin Bussey Countryman, Jr. and James Edward Countryman. Don was a graduate of Little Rock High School (Central). He attended Ouachita Baptist College and the University of Arkansas. He was an outstanding high school athlete, excelling in football and track. He was especially proud of being a member of the Wilson Matthew?s Tigers football team. He served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and retired from the United States Navy in 1982 after 20 years service and two trips to Vietnam. During his retirement years he enjoyed playing golf at Rebsamen Golf Course with the DP Club members. Don requested a private graveside service, which was held at Oakland Cemetery, March 1, 2011.
