Dan was a good friend and an outstanding engineer. All of us guys who worked on the river liked to have him around when we had a problem. I remember especially he and Kerry playing such an instrumental part in repairing Kerr Lock when it was severely damaged. He had a way of working with people that calmed everyone down. But I think I will remember most the outstanding character that Dan always exhibited.

I worked closely with Dan for 16 years. He was truly a unique person. His humor, his knowledge, his personality are unforgetable.
Dan was the most inovative engineer with whom I ever worked. He thought "outside the box" to come up with solutions to problems.
I have thought about Dan many times in the last several years.
May God bless you and provide comfort and peace during this time of your loss.

A very innovative engineer who will live on through his work! Dan could visualize, conceptulize, analyze, design, and illustrate a project better than anyone I ever knew. He knew the right questions to ask and drew frequently on his many life experiences for answers. Some of these experiences included growing up on a farm, teaching, manufacturing beds, dirigibles and fiberglass boats before they were common. He was completely without rancor and most pleasant to be around. His sense of humor was well developed and I still remember some of his stories and see his 'shirt tail' trying to catch up to him! Virginia, our thoughts and warmest regards go out to you and family at this time!---Paul Revis

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I worked with Dan at the Little Rock District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a number of years. He was both a great engineer and a great guy to be around. He was the type of individual that made the District a good place to work.

Our thoughts and prayers are Dan's family. He was a great person and a great engineer to work with. A cheerful person. A teacher. An innovative genius. Always willing able to share complex ideas so that anyone could understand. I haven't seen him in years, but rarely does a day go by here that someone doesn't mention his name. Nearly every process that we have for repairing our equipment and facilities can be traced back to Dan's careful work. He left a little bit of that with many of us, so we just consider that he's still working around here.
