My brother, Mike, and I have many memories of Mr. Freeland. He was my family's neighbor for many years on Freeland Drive and a special friend to my parents. We appreciate his kindness especially to our dad over the last several years. He will be missed. God bless you, Mrs. Freeland, and your family. You are in our prayers.

Our sympathies go out to Nell and family during this very sad time. I learned a lot from Vernon during my early years in the National Weather Service. He was an excellent radar operator and upper air specialist, and was always very willing to help teach the new folks. He was always fun to work with, I know he enjoyed many good retirement years.

I lived across the street for 17 yrs. You both made me feel at home immediately. Mr. Freeland was always the first one over to check on me when my house alarm would sound. I must say I have never had nor probably every will have such good neighbors. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this loss. Janet Bryant

I'll miss Vern at the NWS retiree luncheons every month, especially his jovial and fun attitude. He never missed calling us to remind us of that every month. He was also great to work with at the NWS. He'll be missed. Peace be with you, Nell.
