I was a sports writer with the Dothan Eagle in 1979 when I met Warren who was a junior golfer in the Future Masters at the Dothan Country Club. Warren had the maturity of a 30-year-old and had talent with a golf club in his hand. I am sorry to hear of his passing a few years ago.

Words seem so inadequate at times like these. Know that you have friends that care, always. My memories of Warren go WAY back to Camp Timberlake days. My heart is with you.

I'm so sad today as I realize that Warren is gone, I want to share this with you. Warren called me a few weeks ago, early morning, he was reading his bible, ask me to read Psalm 103: 10-12, I love what this scripture had to say, it was very moving, Please read this and remember Warren. I'm very thankful that we shared conversation and laughter, he was always up beat, kind to a fault, and always my friend. Jeannie

On behalf of the officers and directors of the Arkansas State Golf Association, I want to express our deepest sympathy to the Overton family. In my 20 years with the ASGA and the years I served on the Board before having the honor of being Executive Director, I watched Warren literally grow up in this game excelling on Arkansas clubs and courses. I am sorry I could not attend today's Memorial Service.

Brent and I send many thoughts and prayers to Ford and the Overton family. Although I didn't know him; I am so glad that before Warren died he was able to emerge from such a devastating experience and become the person that he wanted to be and knew he could be. It gives Brent and I great hope that he too can overcome such personal and social obstacles. After reading about Warren he is an inspiration to us and I hope that gives your family comfort.

Dear Mrs. Sutton, Robin and Overton Family

I have a lot of wonderful memories of Warren. The most lasting memory was Thanksgiving day 2009, when I participated in a volunteer service to feed the homeless at a predominantly black church. Some of the volunteers worked in the kitchen, clothing room, serving the homeless and coffee station. Warren worked and watched, and visited with the homeless, and noticed that I was trying to keep coffee made for 150 people with 2 small Mr. Coffee pots. He looked at me and winked and said " I will be right back."
Shortly, he came into the church dining room with a brand new coffee urn. He looked at me and said "Don't tell them this is from me. Tell them this is from your agency". This was Warren Overton, respecting the less fortunate, but wanting no credit for his giving.
He will not soon be forgotten.
