Biography: Marie Theresa Petrus Yanchosek, 89, of Little Rock, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2011. She was born on March 25, 1921, in Slovak, Arkansas to Joseph and Katherine (Lisko) Petrus. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Little Rock and was a registered nurse. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, John Yanchosek; her parents; sister, Philomena Petrus Wieronski, and brothers, Joseph Petrus and Philip Petrus. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Williams (David) and her beloved grandchildren, Adriana and Walker Williams. Marie was a strong, independent woman who was much loved and retained her good sense of humor, even joking with the hospital staff shortly before she passed away. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday, January 24, 2011, at Ruebel Funeral Home with Rosary services immediately following at 7 p.m. in the chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1321 S. Van Buren, Little Rock, AR with Reverend Richard Zawadski as celebrant. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Slovak Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church or the Order of Carmelite Nuns. Always a smile, a kind word, lots of phone calls over the last decade. Marie had a deep devotion to Our Lady. Yes, she was strong and very independent, and loved her family dearly. So proud Adriana is attending her Alma Mater. And Walker,:) she said he was such a smart boy!
