Dan,

I miss you, Tom, Peggy and Jack. Remember when our families went up to the Cossatot River on weekends from Texarkana back in the 1960s? I just learned of your father's passing yesterday. Now all of you are gone away. Some day we will meet again, I know. Be well!

Fond remembrances of Dan, back at Parkview High, when we were on the Journalism Staff there together. He was a wonderful, funny young man and a good friend. I only wish I'd kept in touch through the years. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I will always remember him and the good times we had, with love.

Cousin Daniel, You are so missed. Thankfully years ago somebody took pics of us when we were young Each time Ellen and I go through those pics..they make us smile instantly. I wish we could have been down south all these years with family but that doesn't change the fond memories of your visit several years ago. We took some pictures that will help us recall that time together as well. Your neice Rachel was so excited to have her uncle come and that is so evident in the photos we hope to share! Your visit meant so much to us all! My prayers are for you Uncle Jack and Judy and Aunt Sylvia and all my cousins at this time of great loss. You are all in my prayers. Cousin Lynne

Dear Jack and Judy, Mother told me the sad news earlier this week. I have such happy memories of the times our families spent together in Paragould and Little Rock. Like his wonderful mom and talented brother, Dan was always a witty, funny and gracious host. I was lucky to be around him. All three left us far too soon. Please accept our condolences.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Jack. You have had too many losses to bear--Peggy, Thom, and now Dan. You have broad shoulders but a heavy burden to bear. My God's peace be with you, as well as his comfort. Glad I could reconnect with Dan with these postings from his friends, as it has been too many years since those baby-sitting years.

Dear Jack (and Judy) - Just know tht Dan had more friends than he ever realized! I hope he has found some peace. He was a renegade - a deep thinker, an artist, and a true friend; he just never realized his impact on those around him. My thoughts and prayers are with you both!

My deepest sympathies to Dan's family in this time of indescribable loss. I worked with Dan for several years at CGWG and we remained in contact after we'd both left that firm. We were happy to find ourselves "kindred spirits" in political and philosophical ideals and opinions. Dan brought humor, curiosity and intellectual gentility to my life. He was a dear friend and I will miss him every day for as long as I live.

What a shock to hear of Dan's death. I so enjoyed our re-connection via facebook, then personal emails, and phone calls. We were acquaintences in High School, but became "friends" in the past three years or so. I truly understand what I missed with him over the years and regret that. Our commonalities, cooking, cats, politics, music, and more. Wish I had realized it earlier. I will miss him SO much. Much sympathy to the family and friends. I will always love and appreciate what he was to me. Janet

So saddened by this loss. Dan and I lived next door to each other in Paragould. My family and I actually lived in one of the Meriwether homes. So many fond memories of him and his family. Many great times were shared at his boyhood home. Thoughts and prayers are with family and friends. Love you Dan and may peace be with you.

I knew Dan years ago when he was my student and later, my friend.

When Jonathan contacted me with the news today of his passing, I thought of hearing "Woodstock" sung at Thom's funeral and how much that song always made me think of Dan. He was "stardust and he was golden." And he is missed.

My family and I send to Dan's family and friends our deepest condolences over their loss.

I will forever be thankful for Dan's friendship, which has enriched my life in numerous and memorable ways. He and Tom introduced me to one of my dearest friends, a friend of his from Paragould, and to one of my favorite authors. He was tolerant of my constant cooking questions. He was a kindred spirit/Yellow Dog Democrat, and I always appreciated his political commentary. I will miss his kind and tender heart. Rest in Peace, Dan.

I was so sorry to hear that Dan passed away. My connection with Dan goes back to our fathers, who were the best of friends during their childhood in Paragould. I remember when the Meriwethers moved back to Paragould when Dan and I were in middle school. It was a pleasure to be with the whole Meriwether family. Then I had the good fortune to reconnect with Dan at Hendrix. We stayed in touch through the years courtesy of e-mail, Facebook, and cell phones. I will miss his rantings about politics and his fight against bad grammar and illiteracy. God bless the family.

Dan was so much more than a Hendrix graduate and paralegal. He was a cook, a musician and a poet. He was a great hugger, a lover of cats and had a fabulous wit that was often sardonic and aimed at politics. He was a wonderful writer, a photographer, and appreciated fine food.

More than anything, he was a good friend.

I will miss him terribly.

Dan taught me hummus, among many other things. Everytime I cook, he's in my food. He had this hilarious sneer/smile when he would tolerate my 19 year old emotionality. I give him credit for steady patience and snarky quips at my silliness. We've remained connected for 20 years. I'm so glad I knew Dan. He was solidly kind. And wise. And deep. I will miss him. My sincere condolences to his family and dear friends. Dan was a jewel.
