Biography: Florence Jane Plunkett, 52, departed this earthly realm at 12:30 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2010. She was born December 2, 1957 to Phillip Riley Plunkett and the late Katherine Harris Plunkett. A lifelong Episcopalian, she attended St. Mark’s in Little Rock and was a member of Trinity Cathedral. Jane was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Plunkett and was one of a long line of strong women. She is survived by her father, Phillip Plunkett and his wife, JoAnn, brothers Jim Plunkett, his wife, Kathy, and Jim Benbrook, wife Becky; her sister, Martha Shinley and her husband, David, and good friend George Roberts. Although she never married, she had two god-daughters, Molly Benbrook and Kate Shinley and a niece, Erin Plunkett, and great nephew, Ben, all of whom she loved dearly. Jane served throughout her career at the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration as a revenue agent. She was in charge of the Brinkley office for many years and made hundreds of friends during her time there. Jane had an impish sense of humor and as the family historian recalled everyone’s birthday, anniversary and every family story. Five years ago Jane discovered she had a rare cancer known as carcinoid cancer. She was a fighter and never let the disease define her. Never one to feel sorry for herself, she underwent treatment with good humor and attitude. She asked us to thank Dr. Brad Baltz and his staff on her behalf, the good friends who offered her support during her life, and those who cared for her at Hospice Home Care Inpatient Center. The only thing she asked for were prayers and was so very grateful to those who offered those prayers, support and any good thoughts for her. Jane requested that memorials be made to the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 21 at 11:00 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Father Carey Stone presiding. A private committal service will be held prior to the memorial service. Arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home. You are invited to sign the online guest book at ruebelfuneralhome.com.
