Biography: L. Glenn Trammel, Sr. passed from this life to his heavenly eternal life on October 16, 2010. Glenn was born in the Crystal Hill Community near Hot Springs, Arkansas on January 12, 1920 to Robert Lee and Hattie Jane Trammel. He was married to Eva Marie Ross Trammel for sixty-two years. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and seven brothers and sisters, Clyde Trammel, Lois Wall, Irene May, Robert M. Trammel, Kenneth Trammel, Zelma Sonalia, and Thelma Collins. He is survived by two sons, Lawrence G. Trammel, Jr. and Robert L. Trammel and daughters-in-law Judy Trammel and Patsy Trammel. He is also survived by five grandchildren and their spouses, Lawrence Glenn Trammel, III (Sherry), Brent K. Trammel (Jennalee), Jennifer Girka (Nick), Monica Cooper (Gary), and Kevin D. Trammel (Kimberly), along with twelve great-grandchildren. Glenn was a registered professional civil engineer who spent thirty-six years with the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, retiring after serving twelve years as assistant chief for roadway design. He held a membership in the American Association of State Highway Officials and was a certified Land Surveyor. During his service at the ASH&T, Glenn worked on the design and construction of many of the interstate highways and major highways in Arkansas. Glenn was an active sportsman and fan. As a young man he played for the Corps of Engineer’s fast pitch softball team at Lamar Porter Field. He coached youth baseball teams and influenced many young boys’ lives. He was an avid Razorback fan following each sport with much enthusiasm. Glenn was a fifty year-plus member and a past master of the Western Star Lodge #2 and a 32 degree Mason. Glenn was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ for fifty-seven years, serving in several leadership roles. He served twelve years as a volunteer at Baptist Health working with heart by-pass patients. In his later years, Glenn attended Immanuel Baptist Church. Glenn was a very personal individual having many friends from work, church, and other activities in which he participated. He became a resident of Parkway Village in 2008 and made many new friends and renewed old acquaintances. He leaves a legacy of integrity, love for others, and a winning spirit for others to follow. Family visitation will be at Ruebel Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 5 PM to 7 PM. Funeral services will be at Immanuel Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 1:00 PM.
