Biography: Charles Edward Smith, 84, of Little Rock, passed away on September 21, 2010. He was born December 6, 1925, in Austin, Arkansas, to the late Harvey and Willie Smith. Charles is survived by his daughter, Peggy Gray and husband, Bill Gray; his brother, Cletus Smith; his sister, Velma Carr; sisters-in law, Mary Smith and Delores Smith; two granddaughters, Kristi Gray and Carrie Burke; two grandsons, Ken Gray and Mike Gray; five great-grandchildren, Isabella, Johnny, Carley, Jacob and Kayla, who brought joy to his life; and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Smith; sister, Lois Hicks; and his loving wife of 66 years, Irene Smith. Charles is retired from Crow Burlingame. He is a World War II veteran and spent many years serving his country in the Navy. The family is rejoiced to know that Charlie is now with his beloved Irene for eternity. The family would especially like to thank the staff and residents of Parkway Village for their help and support. I had the privilege of knowing Charlie during his many years at Crow-Burlingame.I worked with Charlie at the Executive Office and was so glad that I knew him. He was a sweet man and he will be missed. I know him and Irene are together now, and I know that is what he wanted.
