Biography: Handy Evans Stinson, age 85, of Little Rock, passed away Monday, August 23rd, 2010. He was born in Columbiana, Alabama to the late Belle McGibbony Stinson and Thomas Stinson, where he lived prior to attending Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, Tennessee. Upon his graduation, in 1943, Handy enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II. He spent two years stationed on a PT boat in the Philippines, prior to returning to the United States. He went on to earn a Bachelors of Science from the University of Alabama, where he was a Pi Kappa Alpha. He later became a regional manager for Reynolds Metal Company and was relocated to Arkansas before retiring after 35 years. Handy is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gene Twitty Stinson. Additionally, he is survived by his three daughters, Melissa Stinson Molloy Jacobs of Houston, Texas; Lizanne Stinson; and Jessica Stinson Lester, both of Little Rock. He will be dearly missed by his four grandchildren; Jason Evans Molloy and Catherine Molloy Gordon, both of Houston; Max Lester and Nicholas Evans Lester, both of Little Rock as well as his great-grandson, Dylan Evans Molloy, of Houston. Handy was preceded in death by two of his grandchildren, Elizabeth Ashton Lester and Jack Lester. Handy was devoted to his family, his church and his country and was an avid fan of Alabama “Crimson Tide” football. He will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday August 25th at St. Andrews Anglican Church, located at 8300 Kanis Road in Little Rock. A private burial will follow at Forest Hills cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Handy’s honor to St. Andrews Anglican Church.
