Biography: Dorothy Virginia “Dot” Allen Moore, 69, of Little Rock, died on August 19, 2010. She was born on May 23, 1941 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Ed and Ruth Allen. After growing up in Aberdeen, Mississippi and graduating from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, she married Tom Moore and began a beautiful 45 year marriage. She taught elementary school in Jackson before she and Tom moved to Little Rock, where she was a sales representative for Innisbrook Wraps until retiring in 1995. They joined Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church in 1975, where the Fathomers Class has been a source of many lifelong friendships. Dot is survived by her husband, Tom Moore, of Little Rock; her daughter, Jennifer Moore, of Fayetteville; and her brother Ed Allen, of Longmont, Colorado. She is also survived by Tom’s extended family, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her son, Russell Allen Moore, her brother Bob Allen and her parents. Dot enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as taking walks, reading, playing bridge, and the company of her dogs Sarah and Mia. She will be missed for her quiet strength, her welcoming smile, and her effortless grace and elegance that was apparent the moment she stepped into a room. When asked to describe her awards and special achievements in life, her answer was “marrying the most wonderful man I could ever imagine.” She is truly an inspiration to all who knew her. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24 at Ruebel Funeral Home. The memorial service will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 25 at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy, 4301 W. Markham St # 816, Little Rock, AR, 72205; or to the PHUMC Foundation, 4823 Woodlawn Ave, Little Rock, AR, 72205. Dot’s online guestbook can be signed at www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.

My life began in Aberdeen, MS in 1947 and as a two year old the Martin family became next door neighbors to Dot, Bob, Ed and their parents. I visited them regularly on their Franklin Street house. Over the years, I always think of this wonderful family every time I walk by a magnolia tree. I climbed their majestic Magnolias hundreds of times. The entire family was an inspiration to me, and the memories have enhanced my life. I am only sorry I was unable to connect with Dot upon discovering her whereabouts on Facebook several weeks ago. God bless her and her family.

Jennifer and Tom-

I am very sorry for your loss. I wish that I could have been there in person with you today. Dot will always hold an important place in my childhood memories. I loved her quirky sense of humor, positive outlook, ever-present smile and super cool wood-paneled station wagon that took us many places (aka "The Bomb"). I really haven't met anyone more genuinely likeable than Dot in my life.

Much love, Helen

Dear Tom and Jennifer: Dot was an extraordinary person who brought joy and comfort to all who knew her. We feel so blessed to have been her friend. Our time together last summer was especially sweet. She loved you both so very much and we know you are heart broken she is no longer with you. We also know the angels rejoiced when she arrived in heaven and it is a happier place because she is there. This isn't the end. . . only the beginning. A time will come when you will be together again and the word "goodbye" will no longer exist. May God bless you and keep you wrapped in His loving arms during these difficult days.

Tom and Jennifer--We are so sorry to hear of your loss.We will always remember her smile and joyful personality. So many times Jennifer and Nicole would spend the night with each other and have such good times. John remembers the brownies that Jennifer would make for him. We were all blessed to have Dot in our memories.

We are heartbroken by the loss of Dot. She was a kind, caring person, a devoted wife and mother. Beneath her calm, quiet exterior lurked a mischievous sense of humor - she was playful and loved a good joke. She lived her faith, not in a pious or holier-than-thou way, but with strength and purpose. We will miss her sweet smile, her happy disposition, and her optimism in the face of challenge. We pray that her spirit is now at peace, just as we pray for strength for Tom and Jennifer to move forward through their grief. Her song may be ended but the melody will definitely linger on in the hearts of those who knew her.
