Biography: On August 6, 2010, Cameron Alexander Bradbury, 24, passed from this place into the arms of a loving God. At last, he found peace after a long battle with substance addiction. He leaves a loving family and many friends with fond memories of the many wonderful qualities he had as a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. Cameron was born and raised in Little Rock and graduated from Episcopal Collegiate School in 2005. He attended Wofford College in South Carolina, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. At the time of his death, he was a student at Kennesaw State University in Georgia. He was a certified fitness and physical trainer. His family recalls a sweet, kind and gentle Cameron. He treated all, young and old, with polite respect. Cameron enjoyed hunting, his pets, his writing and his music. He had finished one novel and was close to finishing his second. He left a stack of short stories for all to enjoy. He had many fun and memorable times with his family on Greers Ferry Lake at Eden Isle, at the duck club and on family vacations. Cameron will be missed by all who knew him. The family hopes his legacy includes a message that addiction is a powerful disease that destroys lives, and that those who suffer from this disease should acknowledge the illness and seek recovery. Cameron is survived by his parents, Charlotte (Chucki) and Curtis F. Bradbury, Jr. of Little Rock; brothers Spencer (London, England) and Curt, III; grandmothers Colleen Bornhoft (Little Rock) and Betty Bradbury (Little Rock); aunts and uncles, Pattie Butler (Fayetteville), Cathy and Tony Bornhoft (Bentonville), LaDonna and Ray Bornhoft (Fayetteville), Ralph Bradbury (Little Rock) and Lee Ann Bradbury (Little Rock); and cousins Rachel Bradbury, Ralph Bradbury, Jr., Sara Butler, George Harrison Butler IV, Anthony Bornhoft III, Mike Bornhoft, Olivia Bornhoft , James Dollar Bornhoft, and Jack Ryan Bornhoft. In addition, he is survived by honorary family member Patricia Johnson, whom the family thanks for all her love and service. Cameron was preceded in death by grandfathers Curtis F. Bradbury, Sr. and James Henry Bornhoft and uncle G. Harrison Butler III, M.D.. A rosary service will be held on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 Markham Street, Little Rock. The funeral Mass will be at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew, 617 Louisiana Street, Little Rock, on Tuesday, August 10 at 11 a.m. Arrangements under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com. For a memorial, the family requests you consider making donations to Psychiatric Research Institute, UAMS, 4301 W. Markham, 554, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205, Arkansas Arts Center, Post Office Box 2137, Little Rock, Arkansas 72203 or The Bradbury Arts Gallery, Arkansas State University, Post Office Box 600, State University, Arkansas 72467.

Dear Curt,

Although we only met briefly last month, I felt like I knew you already given Mack's positive comments and your warm personality.

As a father, I cannot imagine what you and your family are going through. I have lost two very close friends under similar circumstances. I have learned to accept that there is no reason and 100 reasons.

Please accept Kristin's and my sincere sympathies, as well as my SNL family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Words seem so inadequate when trying to express the sympathy I feel for your family. I have the utmost respect for your honesty in sharing the truth about what drug addiction can do to people and families. It knows no boundaries and truly is an epidemic. I feel certain your message encourages many of us to take a closer look at what is going on in our own lives and that of our sons and daughters.

Your entire family is in my continued thoughts and prayers.

Chuckie and Curt, I was deeply saddened to read of your son's recent passing. Unfortunately, I can truly share your pain with you as Dick and I also buried our oldest son after an 11 month battle with cancer. It seems like it was just yesterday. I am certain Cameron had the same dreams and aspirations as our Richard. Both were brave in their battles. God Bless you and your family!!! and may you find peace and the ability to move forward. My prayers always and forever!!!

I don't know your family, but when I read Camerons'obituary I was brought to tears. I have a 24 yr old with a substance abuse problem. It took courage for you to put that information in the paper. Your message was beautiful and true. I will keep Cameron and your family in my prayers.

May God bless and keep you and your family. Thank you for sharing about your son's substance abuse. Our son is struggling with this problem as I am sure are countless others. Seeing the reality of drug use could help some person understand the importance of never doing drugs or getting help. Thank you again so much and we pray that God will mercifully bring you peace!

I was deeply saddened by the news I learned today about Cameron's death. Although he joined us for only a short while at the Collegiate Recovery Center here at KSU he added so much. His quick smile and willingness to be real will be missed. I am prayerful that the serenity Cameron sought has been found in the arms of a loving God. My prayers are with you all. I am so sorry.
