Biography: Emily Virginia Rose Lucy Chandler, 89, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died peacefully at home Sunday, July 11, 2010 and entered the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leamon Barnett Chandler, her parents, Walter Hebron and Emma Jean Binley Lucy and her brother, Walter H. Lucy, Jr. She was born March 3, 1921 in Helena, Arkansas and graduated from Helena High School in 1939. Virginia's favorite activity was singing. In Helena she worked at the Red Cross, her family's farm implement business, Terry Aviation and then moved to Pine Bluff and worked at the Pine Bluff Arsenal. She met and married Leamon Barnett Chandler at the Pine Bluff Employment Security Division. They moved to Little Rock in 1956. She was a faithful wife and answered the high calling of being a stay at home mother to their son, James Leamon Chandler. Her family was all Army with her Father serving in WWI, her Husband serving in the 84th Infantry Division in WWII, her Brother a B-24 Tail Gunner with the Army Air Corps in WWII and her Son a Veteran of Desert Storm. She loved pretty and bright clothes, always wanting to look her best. She was a giving and caring person taking care of her parents when they could no longer keep house anymore and taking care of her brother until he passed due to lung cancer. Her favorite book was the Bible which she had read through twice. She loved singing, the soundtracks from the classic movies and the old TV shows like I Love Lucy. She was a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Patsy Chandler and two grandchildren, Jonathan James and Thomas Scott Chandler, whom she loved very much. She was always supportive of their being home schooled and very proud of their Boy Scout accomplishments. She was lovingly cared for by her family for seven years and the last few months at home with the wonderful help of Arkansas Hospice. We are so grateful to God for Shayne Engle, Deborah Wright, Sherry Watson and Brad Vaden. A graveside service will be held, Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Little Rock National Cemetery located on Confederate and Roosevelt Roads in Little Rock, where her husband is buried.
