Biography: Carmen Faye Smith Gage, went home to meet the Lord, Saturday, July 3, 2010. She was born December 11, 1920 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Mary Effie and William Conway. She attended Little Rock public schools through the 12th grade, where she was active in sports, especially tennis. She married Vernon Smith in 1937, was the mother of eight children; 4 sons, Wallace, Tommy, John and Jimmie; 4 daughters, Rosalie, Shirley, Verna and Maribeth and had a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She worked 10 years at Children’s Hospital and retired from the rehabilitation services for the blind in 1982. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by Tommy, Rosalie and Maribeth. She loved to plant flowers and watch them grow and her little dog Tinker Bell her constant companion.
