I had not talked to Russell since high school because like so many I moved to another state. When my brother died in February, Russell called and talked to me. It brought back many memories of good times when we lived just two houses from each other. I am now glad I called him just a few days ago and once again we spoke. That opportunity to speak with him again is now over.

Paula,
There are not words sufficent to tell you how much I am going to miss Russell, but most of all You & Russell. God has his way of opening & Closing doors before us. I pray the doors set before you will always be the door God chooses for you. You've done a pretty good job so far of listening to him.I know thru your sorrow you will even be stonger & always open the right door. Never forget I am here for you always.
Love you very much,

Russell and I started a friendship in Little League that was everlasting. We knew how to have fun and just reading what others wrote brings home the great times in the past. He was someone that I would have enjoyed at the coming reunion. We had common friends ,many who wrote a condolence. We will miss you my friend , I,m sad we have not more recent times together.

My dad got transfered to LR and we moved in across the street from the Graw's. I was immediately "taken" by the cute, blonde-haired boy who went to Central High School. On our first date he took me walking in the cemetery. We married in 1963 and for the next 28 years we made some wonderful memories, and then we grew up. I came home from a week at an insurance conference and Russell had wrecked his car, let some people from the circus spend the night in our apartment, quit his job, and gone into busines for himself. That's such a good example of that unpredictable person Russell could be. Through the years, we've always kept in touch and he's been a part of my family..going to my nephews' ball games, being a pallbearer at my mother's funeral..I've felt safe knowing that when life threw me something I couldn't handle, I could call on Russell to help me. I've lost my rock of over 50 years. Paula, I'm thinking about you.

Russell hired me while I was a college student and he owned Medic Rentals. He was a very good boss and let everyone work around their course schedules. He used to come sliding in the parking lot sideways in his white 260Z after having tailgated most of the people on his way to work and yelled one or two unpleasantries to those who didn't like it. I look back on those days with fondness. He was a unique individual that will be missed.

Russell, Russell.....You left us too soon, and your death hits home because you always are Russell, always alive and lively, always yourself and not trying to be anyone else, always ready with a quip, always ahead of me and others with whatever we might try to joke or say......Thanks for your life...

When we heard about Russell we both felt a terrible sadness. Paula, we will always have fond memories of those special times when we would arrive home to find Russell sitting on your condo steps with refreshments on ice and something delicious in the oven he had made to share. Russell was such a fabulous cook! These “stoop parties” as he called them are precious moments to remember him by as well as the great conversations we had. He was such a great guy and will always have a special place in both our hearts. Our deepest condolence to you and family for having lost such a wonderful caring person.

Russell was a good guy. I walked with him to school for years and we wrestled regularly and even though I was bigger than he was, he always beat me, because he just had that tenacity that stayed with him throughout his life. Our world is smaller now.

Russell was a friend who I met thru Golf in the 70's. We have stayed in touch over the years. I was shocked to hear of his passing. We both attended a funeral in Oklahoma just last month of another Golf buddy. You always new how Russell felt about things, and this was his most endearing qualities. He will be missed.

Paula, our prayers are with you and the Family.

I just can't wrap my head around life without Russell being only a phone call or an email away. I've loved him since I was 7 and we moved across the street from the Graw's. Russ was a wonderful brother-in-law, a great cook, and an ever-faithful friend. I will miss him.

Russell will certainly be missed by those that knew and loved him as he was always the feel good guy who made everybody laugh. Regretfully, for some unknown reason, I moved to south Louisiana over 30 years ago and wasn't around Russel or many of our other friends much in the recent past. To your family please accept Sandy & my deepest sympathies.

Russell will be missed for sure. We were great friends in high school and have only been able to visit a few times since due to the places life takes you. My sympathy to Russell's close friends and family.

My deepest condolences to Paula, whom I have not met, but who I know was loved deeply by Russell. Russell was best man at my wedding, and Godfather to my first child and was someone with whom I shared a wealth of memories - he was one of a kind and will be sorely missed by his many, many friends from "the old days" at Central and from Vernon Street. He always told it "like it was" even before it was "fashionable" to do so, and he had not an ounce of pretense in him - which was a vital part of his charm.
