Biography: Jerome Wilder Whipple, Sr., 90 of Little Rock, went home to be with the Lord, June 20, 2010. He was born December 7, 1919 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to the late Jerome C. Whipple and Irene Wilkins. His wife, Betty L. Whipple, a great-grandson, Blake Christian Whipple, 4 brothers, and 1 sister, preceded him in death. His children survive him, Jerome W. Whipple, Jr. and wife Kathy of Waco, Texas, Frank Whipple of Pearl River, Mississippi, William Whipple and wife Carol, of Little Rock, Arkansas, Jay Whipple and wife Jamie and Priscilla and husband Gary Dooley, both of Kenner, Louisiana; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ollie LeRouge of New Orleans, LA, and Delores Speigel of Sherman, Texas also survive him. Jerome was a Baptist, serving in many positions in the church. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a member of the 101st Airborne Division, receiving the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service. Jerome was an entrepreneur all of his life, operating many businesses such as a convenience store, building supply, and home construction companies. While living in Hot Springs, Arkansas, he owned and operated the Desoto Hotel, and Ar-Scenic Springs. Private services will be held Thursday. Memorials can be made to the charity of choice.
