Dear Robin, Bobby & Illing Family:
Allen was beloved by so many. He really was a great guy. I was so sorry to hear that he passed on...and so thankful to know one so kind in my life. I think of you all often and fondly. Please let me know if you need anything...a shoulder, some errands, anything. Much love to you always.

The thing I will always remember about Allen was his genuine smile and his forever positive attitude. Though it had been many years since I had seen or talked with him, I always considered him a friend. He was a very special man and I am so sorry for your loss. I will keep all of you in my prayers. May God bless you all.

Tressa and family,

Al always had a smile and it was a pleasure to have known him, I played soccer with him for about six years on and off. He loved the game and always had fun out there win or lose, it didn't matter he was all about the game.

My thoughts are with you and your family at this time.
I will miss him.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of "BIG AL". Just saying his name brings a smile to my face. As a former teammate with the Renegades, the greatest compliment I can give is that he played the game like a child; not with child-like skills, but with child-like joy and enthusiasm. I think he approached all of life in this fashion as well. I don't think he really knew how much he brightened up my Sundays.

Be proud. He was a special man, and there are all too few like him in this world today.

Jim Taylor here, from the Arkansas Central Soccer Association.

I was fortunate to play as a teammate and an opponent to Big Al for several years. He was everything that sports should be. He always played for the fun of the game. He showed up for every game rain or shine. He always had a smile and a kind word, win or lose. He leaves a large void on our soccer fields.

We are going to contact the city of North Little Rock to see if we can place a plaque in Big Al's honor on the building next to our fields.

Our soccer website now has a Big Al tribute section which can be viewed at http://www.arkansascentralsoccer.com/

Big Al will truly be missed. He was one of the nicest gentlemen I have had an opportunity to know.

I met him three or four years ago playing for the Renegades, and he was always a pleasure to be with on or off the soccer field.

He was a great guy and a good friend.

I will truly miss Big Al, he was a great person to work with, he made the best chilli we ever tasted and his waky potatoes were his specialty for all of us here at Traffic Engineering including all of the Signals Guys. My prayers are continuing for you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Al was so much fun to play soccer with...he would strive to play as well as he could and to help the rest of us play better, but winning wasn't his goal as much as having fun and playing hard. I feel lucky to have known him.
