Biography: Vivian Joan Ryan, age 63, of Little Rock, passed from this earthly life on Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Baptist Health Medical Center after a 17 year courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 5, 1942, at Blue Mountain, Arkansas to George C. and Mildred (Loyd) Ryan. She graduated from Magazine High School in 1960 as Salutatorian of her class. Joan attended Arkansas Tech at Russellville. Joan was an active member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, a member and past president of Downtown Business and Professional Women’s Club, a member and past Worthy Matron of Levy Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in North Little Rock, and a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Beta Lambda Sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, George Carroll Ryan, and a niece, Ryan D. Chadwick. She leaves to mourn her passing, Ray Russell of Little Rock; two sisters, Gene Ryan Hurst (Elmo) of Cotter, Ark., Grace Ryan Calva (Ted) of Blue Mountain, Ark., a great nephew, Holden Ryan Chadwick of Blue Mountain; and a host of cousins, classmates, and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. James R. Grissom, Michael E. Ranft, D.O.M., Trisha Goodson MEd, CMT, MMT, and Baptist Medical Center 10A. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Ruebel Funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, 4823 Woodlawn Ave., Little Rock, officiated by Rev. Lynn W. Lindsey and Dr. Jeffrey B. Hampton. Burial will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Blue Mountain Cemetery, Blue Mountain, Arkansas.
