Biography: Dorothea May McVey Ellington, 96, of Little Rock died Thursday, July 6, 2006. She was born in Edmond, West Virginia to George M. and Mayme Haynes McVey. Her family moved to Little Rock where she attended the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Nursing School where she received her Registered Nursing Certificate. In 1934 she married Thomas J. Ellington, Jr. Dorothea was a member of Highland Valley United Methodist Church since 1952. She will be remembered for her sweet disposition and her loving and caring ways. She was known for her wonderful Christmas cookies and fudge that she loved to share and the welcoming wave from her porch each morning. Dorothea is survived by a daughter, Dot Blankenship, grandson, Ken Blankenship and his wife Linda, granddaughter, Nancy Hambrick and her husband Danny, three great granddaughters, Jennie, Jayma and Haley and a sister, Sarah Lee Chiavarini and four loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters, Marguerite Lewis and Vivian Reed. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
