Biography: Charles Wycough “Chuck” Jeffery, M.D., 49, died Monday, April 26, 2010, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, after a relentless battle with cancer. He was born December 26, 1960, in Batesville, Arkansas, to Nancy Myers Jeffery and the late H. Carter Jeffery, Jr. He attended school in Batesville where he was valedictorian of his class. He graduated in 1983 Summa Cum Laude from Arkansas College, now Lyon College, and was a member of the Lyon golf team. He graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1987. Dr. Jeffery completed a residency in radiology at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas and a fellowship in interventional radiology at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was certified by the American Board of Radiology with a sub-specialty in Interventional Radiology. He was a partner at Radiology Consultants in Tulsa OK, and in 2005 joined Radiology Associates P.A. in Little Rock. Chuck played by the rules. His integrity was constant and unquestionable. He was a remarkable scholar. His knowledge was vast and varied; his sense of humor was legendary. He was a lot like his favorite show Frasier: witty, intelligent and multi layered. His friends are endless. His always active curiosity and perspicacity led him on frequent travels to Scotland in quest of the ultimate single malt scotch, McAllen Grand Reserva. Indeed, he could quote Robert Burns at any occasion. Chuck meant the world to his wife and children and in their eyes he was the greatest man who walked the earth. His dedication to his family and his profession was profound. He cherished his family and was extremely proud of his children. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, H. Carter and Virginia Fitzhugh Jeffery, Sr.; Hassell Evans and Wanda Gray Myers; his father, H. Carter Jeffery, Jr. and an uncle, Columbus Gray Myers. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Baker Jeffery and their three children, Alyssa Paige, Carlos Alexander and Amanda Marie of Little Rock; his mother, Nancy Myers Jeffery of Batesville; his sister, Mary Virginia “Ginger” Jeffery of Little Rock; uncles, Hassel Evans Myers and his wife Carol of Little Rock, John Richard Myers and his wife Shelley of Little Rock; aunts, Ida Elizabeth Myers Brown and her husband James Oliver of Lenoir City, TN, Judy Jeffery of Little Rock and Lucy Jeffery Yeager and her husband Danny of Batesville; and many cousins, all of whom will miss him greatly. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30 at Ruebel Funeral Home. Services will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to Jeffery Children Scholarship Fund at any local Arvest Bank or may be mailed to P.O. Box 2220 Little Rock, AR 72203 Or Lyon’s College P.O. Box 2317 Batesville, AR. 72503. May God hold each one of your hurting and saddened hearts in the palm of His hand . Chuck Jeffery was a hero to many people. I knew him as a child and teenager growing up in Batesville. He was shy, smart, funny and always kind . Nancy , thank you for being Chucks mother. Ginger, Thank you for being a great sister to Chuck. Sandra, I have never met you but I thank you for being a loving and faithful wife to Chuck, and fighting his war beside him everyday . Thank you for giving him 3 precious children and raising them to be adults. I pray that God will give you tremendous strength and peace and comfort as you do this . I am so sorry for your loss.

I don't know what to say really except my heart is broken for you all. It's terribly hard to accept death when it comes to person whose very existence made the world a better place. Chuck's influence during his life and during the fight for his life was wide ranging. My memories of Chuck are of a sweet and shy young man who drove Ginger and I to school every day in Carter's El Camino and memories of his mostly futile efforts to help me pass Physics! Even as a teenager Chuck was a person of integrity. Nice words like kind, compassionate, witty, and intelligent lack the depth and intensity to do justice to the man young Chuck became. I am so sorry for the loss of husband, father, son, brother, and friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
