Biography: Victor Robert Borecky, age 97, a long time resident of North Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 21, 2010. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 16, 1913. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Borecky. Vick or Mr. Victor as he was known by his customers’ was the owner of Victor’s Shoe Store in downtown North Little Rock for fifty-two years. He would probably have continued working in the store if the building had not sold and been torn down for the North Little Rock bus depot in 1987 causing him to close the business. As a businessman Vick was fair to all of his customers and he enjoyed discussing business and other topics over coffee everyday with other businessmen from the downtown area. He retired at 75 and enjoyed fishing, hunting, an occasional bus trip to Tunica, and gardening where he could be found hoeing his vegetable garden which he generously shared with many people. Victor was a good father, grandfather, friend and neighbor and a constant provider for his family. Mr. Victor was amazed and somewhat proud of his longevity and good health. He was blessed with good health through the years except for the last 5 months, as was due to strong Czech stock, simple living, hard work and living by the “do right” rule in his dealing with everyone. He was good natured, had a joking wit about himself and was independent in his thinking. He was a member of Big Six Hunting Club since 1932, a US Army Corps veteran of WWII, serving in Italy, and a graduate of Little Rock Junior College. He is survived by three sons and daughter-in-laws, Thomas Ladis Borecky and wife Marilyn of North Little Rock, Robert Michael Borecky and wife Rita of Maumelle, Steven D. Borecky and wife Martie of North Little Rock; daughter, Katherine A. Borecky of North Little Rock; 5 grandsons, Stanley, Richard, Chris, Patrick and Paul and 1 granddaughter, Amy.
