Biography: Margaret Manees Parker Drake Parker, of Little Rock, daughter of the late William Stephen and Tommie Manees Parker, died peacefully at her home at the age of 94, on Tuesday, April 13, 2010. She was born August 9, 1915, in Monticello, Arkansas and spent her youthful years in Dermott, Arkansas. Margaret married Army Captain Frank N. Drake, II in Dermott in 1936. Captain Drake died in 1943 in San Diego, California. She later married John E. Parker in 1948 and he preceded her in death in 1975. She was a life long member of First Baptist Church. She and Johnny were involved in custom home building from 1958-1975, primarily in Briarwood, Leawood, and Foxcroft. Survivors include brothers, Morris Parker and wife Geraldine, and Bill Parker wife Marian of Dermott; daughter, Sharon Drake Tabor and husband Ron of Little Rock; son, John Thomas Parker and wife Judy of Cabot, Arkansas; grandchildren, Laura Stokes and husband Mark of Cabot, Scott Tabor and wife Denise and Susan Brightop and husband Austin all of Little Rock; great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Madeline and Scott Tabor, Jr., Andrew Brightop, and Emily Margaret Stokes. The family wishes to thank Joyce Thomas who cared for Margaret for over 2 years and more recently, Brenda Williams and Brenda Dean. There will be a visitation Thursday, April 15, 2010 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service Friday, April 16, at 10:00 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park officiated by The Reverend Phillip Jones. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to St. Andrew’s Church, 8300 Kanis Road, Little Rock 72204, The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 904 Autumn Lane, Little Rock 72211, or Arkansas Hospice, 5600 W. 12th Street, Little Rock 72204.

Though only having the last several years to have known Margaret, I truly enjoyed her "gift of gab" and her ability to make me laugh at a moment's notice. She didn't take life so seriously that she couldn't still laugh at herself. I admired her wit and wisdom. I am truly sorry for your great loss, but we shall all see her again. May God keep you until that reunion.

Margaret was a dear friend. I always enjoyed her wit and sense of humor. She was a gracious lady and will be missed.

Aunt Margaret was a WONDERFUL lady who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace with no more pain and with wonderful memories of the life she had here on earth.
