Biography: Marjorie Jacquelyn “Jackie” O’Kelley Morgan, 88, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock. She was a Christian Zionist and awaits the return of the Messiah. Born September 19, 1921, in N. Little Rock, AR, she was the daughter and the 8th of 11 children born to Grace Pyles and Columbus Owen O’Kelley. She is survived by her three children Jacquelyn Ann Morgan of Dunwoody, GA, William S. “Sammy” Morgan ( Marion ) of San Juan Capistrano, CA, and Deanna Morgan Spangler (Porter) of Winter Park, FL, one brother, Carroll E. O’Kelley ( Marion ) of Abilene, TX, five grandsons, Duncan Neblett, David Spangler (Carrie), Michael Spangler (Cari), Randy Spangler, Ashley Morgan ( Lila ), one granddaughter, Kelly Spangler Halbig, seven great grandchildren, Isabella Halbig, Abbey Morgan, Andrew, Katherine, Evan, Addison and Cody Spangler, and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, James E., Owen Jr., Ralph, Ted and Ned O’Kelley, and four sisters, Bernadine Lenox, Iris Gazette, Kathleen Ross, and Bobbye Holmes. Ms. Morgan graduated from North Little Rock High School where she was Homecoming Queen in 1937. She graduated from Little Rock Vocational School and worked at M.M. Cohn in downtown Little Rock in the 1940’s. She taught dance at Henrietta Fredericks Dance Studio where she was a star ballet dancer. She was a long-time employee of Pulaski Bank and Trust at the Heights Main Bank from 1957 until her retirement at age 62. “Jackie”, as she was known by family and friends, was a petite, energetic, fiercely loyal woman, loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt and friend. She had a sharp mind, remembering details of everyone’s lives and interests, involved with her family, always interested in others and serving those in need. She loved the Jewish People and nation, spending her life studying Scripture and believing in “the Hope of Israel” when the Messiah will return and set up His Kingdom on Earth. Up until the last two weeks, she was calling and “checking on” everyone and driving to the grocery store. She left an indelible mark on all who knew her and will be greatly missed. I have many wonderful memories of your mom and I was able to reconnect with her through my husband who was her next door neighbor on N. Lookout. I saw her just recently at Kroger. I am sad she is gone, but feel blessed to have known her – and you guys.
