Biography: Charles Robert Woods Overton, 94, passed away at Holy Spirit Hospital on December 24, 2009, after a brief illness. He was born in Memphis, Tenn. on January 9, 1915. He lived in Little Rock, Arkansas until moving to Mechanicsburg, PA in 2006. He was a resident at Country Meadows at the time of his death. He graduated from the Little Rock School System in 1934, attended Little Rock Junior College, and the U.S. Naval Academy. He attended the University of Arkansas Fayetteville Law School and graduated from American University Law School with a Juris Doctor. He retired as a Commander, USNR and as a civilian General Engineer for the Navy Department. He served in several positions in the Arkansas Society Sons of the American Revolution including President, and also served as Vice President General, National Society Sons of the American Revolution. He is past President of the Central Arkansas Chapter, the Retired Officers Association, past chairman SCORE Chapter, Arkansas, and past Deacon of the Second Presbyterian Church, Little Rock. He is a recipient of the Patriot Medal, the Law Enforcement Commendation Medal and the War Service Medal for service in World War II and Korean War. He was the widow of Patricia Farrand Overton. Surviving are a son, Charles Webster Overton and his wife Linda, of Salisbury, PA; his daughter, Helena Overton Train and her husband Peter, of Mechanicsburg, PA; a son, William Webster and his wife Sandi, of California; five grandchildren, Chris Glagolich, Jennifer Hyde, Brian and Kevin Train, Christina Stoudt, and three great-grandchildren.
