Biography: Alvin Bussey Countryman, Jr., aged 82 of Little Rock, Arkansas died Sunday, November 15, 2009, at St. Vincent's Hospital after a long illness. He was born August 8, 1927, in North Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Alvin Bussey Countryman, Sr and Lillian Naomi May Countryman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, James Edward Countryman. Al was a graduate of Little Rock High School (Central) and Little Rock Junior College. He served in the United States Navy in World War II and the Korean War as a Gunner's Mate First Class. He retired from American Airlines in 1982 after 27 years. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying golf, fishing and quail hunting. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gwen K. Countryman and a brother, Don Lee Countryman. A private graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home. www.ruebelfuneralhome.com

Al Countryman was the best. I worked with Al at American Airlines. I've played golf, fished & hunted with him and he was the best.
Al was a good friend. He will be missed but he is un-forgettable. My sympathy to Gwen.

Dear Gwen, I am so sad about Al. My thoughts and prayers are with you daily. I still like to think about all the fun times we had together. I will always treasure the memories.They will be with us forever. I am available to you whenever you need anything.

I was very saddened to hear about Al this morning. I enjoyed knowing him and working with him at American Airlines.
