Biography: Isaac Alexander Scott, Jr., 75, of Little Rock, died on Wednesday, August 26. He was born in Trenton, NJ, to Isaac Alexander Scott, Sr., and Sherwin Bloomfield Gilbert, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Elaine Hoffman Scott; children Melissa Scott, of Portsmouth, NH; Caitlin Scott (Edward Derby), of Portland, OR; and Bran Scott (Elane O’Rourke) and granddaughter Elisabeth Scott, of San Jose, CA; a sister, Sherwin Ghaphery, of Richmond, VA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mark and Mary Jo Hoffman, of Cambridge, England; a niece and four nephews and three great-nephews. He valued his extended family at the Wright Lindsey Jennings law firm, his friends and colleagues for so many years. He was a graduate of Little Rock High School (1952); Harvard College (A.B. 1956), where he received the Oak Leaf Cluster for outstanding service to Adams House; and the Law School of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville (L.L.B. 1959), where he was Associate Editor of the Arkansas Law Review (1957-1959) and a member of Blue Key. His professional affiliations include The American Bar Association (Business Law Section); the Arkansas Bar Association (original House of Delegates); the Pulaski County Bar Association (President 1997-98, former Treasurer); Pulaski County Bar Foundation (President (2004-2005); Debtor-Creditor Bar Association of Central Arkansas; Arkansas Bar Foundation, Fellow; American College of Bankruptcy, Fellow. He was a founder and a member of the original Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Bureau. Honors include listing in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, The Best Lawyers in America (1995-2010), and Mid-South Super Lawyers (Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights 2006). He received the Sidney S. McMath Award from the Pulaski County Bar Association in 2004. His community activities have included The Book Club; Fifty for the Future; Greater Little Rock Chamber of Commerce; Urban League of Greater Little Rock (Board of Directors); Chamber Music Society of Little Rock (past President); Liberal Arts Advisory Council of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock; Harvard Club of Arkansas (past President); Arkansas Repertory Theatre (Board of Directors 2001 – 2006, past President); University of Arkansas Foundation, Inc. (Board of Directors 2001 -2006, past President); Downtown Partnership (Board of Directors); Arkansas Business and Education Alliance (Board of Directors). The family wishes to express appreciation for the exceptional care he received at UAMS, which gave him many years of productive life after his first heart attack in 1972. Special appreciation is due his wonderful cardiologist, Dr. Joe Bissett, whose kindness and compassion over many years was a support to him and the family and went far beyond the call of duty. There will be a memorial reception remembering Isaac Scott, who died August 26th, 2009, at the Little Rock Club located on the top floor of Regions Bank, 4th and Broadway, on Wednesday, September 9th, from 5 to 7 P.M.
