Jim was my idol when Fred and I were close friends in high school; being invited by Jim to Fayetteville for a rush party when I was still a junior was among the greatest thrills of my youth. I remember the "Razor Blade," the humor magazine that he founded, as if it were yesterday. I was very happy to have been in touch with him again in the last couple of years.
He was a great and genial spirit, and I will miss him as I miss his mother and brother.
My thoughts and prayers are with his children and grandchildren.

My brother, Bob Boyd, was close friends with Jim and Fred, and I remember my mother saying that Jim had the keenest nose in Little Rock because anytime she baked chocolate chip cookies Jim would show up at the door. I had the honor of paging for Jim during his term in the Arkansas Senate, and will forever be in his debt for enabling me to have that exprience. Please know that Jim's friendship was of great importance to me and my family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all...
