Biography: Douglas Dudding Pickworth, age 88 of Little Rock, died Sunday, August 2, 2009. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa where he graduated from high school. After high school he attended college before joining the Army Air Corp servicing as an airplane mechanic on an aircraft carrier, during World War II. His tour included action at Guam Island and areas of the South Pacific. After the war Doug settled in Little Rock in 1945, where he and his wife of 58 years Esther Bosch Pickworth, who died in 2000, raised a family and he started his 30 plus years career as a PBX supervisor with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Doug loved the game of golf playing at Hindman Park as often as possible. He also was a real handyman around the house helping build his own house as well as a greenhouse for the garden and doll houses for the kids. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and served on the board of The Retreat Singers at the church. Doug is survived by his daughter Camille P. Cress of Little Rock, one son Douglas H. Pickworth of Houston, Texas, two grandchildren; Jessica Cress of Little Rock, and Kevin Pickworth of Houston, Texas. There will be a memorial service held Saturday, August 8, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral officiated by The Reverend Dan McKee. Burial of cremains will follow in the church garden.
