Biography: Jane A. Wray, 60, of Little Rock, died on July 13,2009, after a lengthy and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Married to Micheal E. Wray of Camilla, GA, and Emily Wray Shuman, of Savannah, GA, four adoring granddaughters, Loren Wray, Breanna Shuman, Taylor Wray, and Michaela Shuman, and her devoted sister, Jacquelyn Kaster Torrens, of Newport Beach, CA. Janey was born on May 14, 1949, in New York City, the daughter of the late Jean L. Fontan and Ernest B. Fontan of Rutherford, N.J., where she was raised. She attended Vernon Court Junior College, Newport, R.I., graduated from Bergen Pines School of Practical Nursing, Paramus, N.J., continuing her nursing education at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, Texas. The family would like to thank Mariann Harrington, M.D., Little Rock Hematology/Oncology Assoc., and her staff for their unfailing support, understanding, and loving care during Janey's brave struggle with ovarian cancer. The University of Arkansas Medical Services Women's Oncology Clinic physicians and staff also provided much appreciated care and support as did the oncology nurses and staff at Baptist Health Medical Center, Little Rock, and the excellent staff from Arkansas Hospice. Cherished by family and friends, Janey lit up their lives with her humor, spirit, and devotion. Throughout life, Janey showed us all how to ''Live, Love, and Laugh.'' Today November 30, 2009 I learned of the passing a great lady. Janey and I enjoyed a great childhood in Rutherfor NJ. Not too many years ago Janey reunited on-line and again in person. Janey was still a beautiful and wonderful lady who cared for others and truly loved her family. I will miss her dearly

My condolences to the family:

Janey was a very important part of my Vernon Court years. We remained very close friends
for years after college. I will never forget
our times at 6 Dean Court in N.J.
She was lovely, a dear friend and we will all
miss her terribly. She will be forever in my
thoughts.

Love, Phyllis Berman

To Janey's family:
Janey was an inspiration to us all. As our lives progressed, Janey was in Arkansas, I in Ohio and contact was lost. However, during that past year, we reconnected via email and Janey's sense of humor and sweetnes came through even via the written word. Know that she was loved by many, near and far. My deepset sympathies to all who knew her!

I met Janey about a decade ago, after my wife, Eilene, reconnected with her. They were roommates at Vernon Court. I got to know a loving, caring person who I will never forget.
On a lighter note, Janey, the next time I get to NJ, I'll have a ripper for you at Rutt's Hutt.

I am a good friend of Emily's, Janes' daughter. I can relate to what the family is going through. I lost my mom as well to a battle of cancer in 1997. Each day will get easier. You will always miss her and take comfort in knowing that she will always be with you. My heart goes out to all of you. Always remember and hold on to the fact that she is in a better place and not in pain. God Bless All Of You.

Janey was a wonderful lady and a cherished friend. I met her years ago thru Alan and Kelley and we figured out thru deductive reasoning that she was actually the labor and delivery nurse in the room with my mom when I was born. Since then I always felt I had a unique bond with her. Later when my husband was diagnosed with cancer, Janey and he became buddies through their ordeal. She always sent wonderful encouraging notes to him while sympathizing and identifying with everything he was going through. Having just lost him to this awful disease on May 8, I take comfort in the fact that they are up there together. My prayers go out to all of you in this very sad time. She fought a very brave battle and never once lost her humor or positive attitude. I loved her very much and she will be missed by many.
God Bless
