Biography: Moise B. Seligman, Jr., civic leader and businessman for many years in Arkansas, passed away July 10, 2009, after a long illness. He was a dedicated husband, loving father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family. Moise was born in Jackson, Tennessee, October 8, 1918, to Lucille and Moise B. Seligman. His family moved to Little Rock when Moise was two years of age. He attended Little Rock Public Schools, graduating from Little Rock Central High School. After graduating from Ouachita, he married Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Strong from Arkadelphia, and they were married until her death in 1983. They had three children. In 1992, he married Billie Cruce Weatherly, to whom he remained married until his death. After college, he served in World War II, entering as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. He commanded the 122nd ARCOM, which included Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and Mississippi during the Vietnam War. He was on active duty during those years. He was also President of the Arkansas Army Reserves and retired after 40 years of service. His business career began at the Arkansas Paper Company in Little Rock as a toy salesman and later became the owner of the company. He served on the board of the Greater Little Rock Chamber of Commerce. He was President of the Downtown Kiwanis Club and Chairman of the Kiwanis Minstrel for several years. He also served on the board of the Little Rock Boys Club and served on the Wilbur Mills Highway Commission. He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, The Arkansas Arts Center, and The Country Club of Little Rock. He was preceded in death by his son, Moise B. Seligman, III, in 1973. He is survived by his wife, Billie Cruce Seligman; two daughters, Susan Steelman and her husband Alan, of Dallas, Texas, Mary Elizabeth (Boots) Warrick and her husband Alan, of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Fuller of Little Rock, and Daniel Fuller and his wife Kirsten of Dallas, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan Elizabeth and Jack Hamilton, of Dallas, Texas. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Presbyterian Village, especially his wonderful, caring friend, Charlene Hatter. Also, the family gives great thanks for Crawford "Matt" Matthews for his caring, help and support during Moise’ illness. And most of all, to our step-mother Billie, for her complete devotion, care and love. There will be a celebration of the life of Moise B. Billie and family,
We first met Moise through Kiwanis. I always looked upon Mo as a first class gentlemen, a good business man, and a fantastic leader. Then Billie, we got to meet you, when you and Moise joined Trinity UMC. He was so fortunate to have found the caring person that you have been.

You are in our prayers and thoughts; may your many fond memories with Moise comfort you in your loss.

Boots and Susan, I know this has been a long and hard battle not only for your Dad but the whole family. I am glad he is at peace. Monday will mark 3 years since we lost our sweet Christie. I know how your hearts must hurt.
I pray that all the diseases that have effected our families will find cures and solutions.
With Love,
Suzanne

Susan, Boots and family,
Rick and I are so sorry to hear of Uncle Mo's death. I had been keeping up with his condition through mother. She's still pretty good at knowing and remembering things. I'm sorry I've lost track of you girls over the years. We have retired to Montana. I know that your dad is at peace and enjoying seeing your mom again and Moise. Please know we are thinking of you all and send our love. Polly

Dear Billie and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you all... since I only got back into town yesterday, I am sorry I was not here for Moise's last days.
I will always remember his quick wit, sparkling eyes, and funny personality. He had some good days to the end, and I am sure that was because he was loved and cared for so well.
Billie, may you find comfort in the knowledge that you fulfilled your promise with such love and devotion...
Sincerely,
Kathy Kaczmarek

Dear Susan and Boots,

I didn't hear about Uncle Mo's death until this evening when my aunt called me. I have such wonderful memories of both him and Aunt Betsy. When I looked at his picture tonight sit just seemed like yesterday when I saw him at Grandmother Strong's with that great smile. As much as you'll miss him I'm sure it must be a great comfort to know he is at peace and feeling whole again. Daddy and I watch Mother struggle daily at the nursing home--it just isn't the way you want to see your parent live. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

With love and sympathy,
Cynthia and Paul

Boots and Susan: I'm so sad to hear about your dad. He was a very unique, impressive, and energetic human being. I am especially grateful for the time he spent with my dad in his later years after my mom died. Daddy thoroughly enjoyed their outings together. I will remember Mr. Mo with a big smile always. My regards to you both.
