Biography: Joyce McCombs, of Little Rock, passed away peacefully while asleep at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. She was born September 9, 1927 to the late R. B. McCombs and Cleone Rudolph in Little Rock. In addition to her parents Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, William F. McCombs. Joyce graduated from Little Rock High School in 1965. Later she attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville for two plus years before transferring to Southern Methodist University where she graduated with a degree in government. While at the University of Arkansas Joyce pledged Pi Beta Phi and was a lifetime member. She also was a member of the Little Rock Aesthetic Club, Arkansas Arts Center, The Fine Arts Club and Little Rock Country Club. Joyce is survived by Edwin Leo Osburn, a friend of 36 years, a nephew, a niece, several cousins and a few contemporary friends still living. Joyce was well read, loyal, intelligent, charity and patriotic minded and was commonly referred to as being a sweat person by all who knew her. Joyce would have wanted to thank “D.D.”, her Hospice nurse and all of her caregivers; Darlene Jackson, Helen Brown, Regina Price, Roxanne Leatherwood, Becky Choate and Tammy Salts. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Ruebel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. There will not be a family visitation.
