Biography: Norma Lee Gates, 87, of Little Rock died Tuesday, June 09, 2009. She was born December 1, 1921 in Center Ridge, Ark. to the late Andrew F. McKnight and Rosa Ester French. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carroll E. Gates, Jr., and a sister, Perna Lee McKnight. Mrs. Gates enjoyed spending time with family, primarily with her husband at Greers Ferry Lake, bird watching, and her grandchildren…anytime! She was a faithful member of Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church, being there every time the doors were open, though sometimes a little late. She is survived by three sons: Randy Gates (Rachel), Rudy Gates (Joyce), and Steve Gates (Candy); eight grandchildren: Tonya Dettmer (Scott), Tony White (Elise), Todd Gates, Sara Gates, Mandy McClain (Kevin), Jeremy Gates, Jennie Gates and Julianne Gates; three great grandchildren; one brother, Hugh W. McKnight, Sr. (Arie Anna); and one sister, Mada Floyd (Tom). There will be a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at Ruebel Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 12, at Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ruskin Falls officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church, 4401 Woodlawn Dr., Little Rock, Ark. 72205.
