Biography: Mrs. Betty Sain Bennett, 78, of Little Rock, died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Center. She was born November 11, 1930 in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Erie Bishop and Luther Thomas Sain and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt in 1994; and siblings, Eloise Sain Eaheart and Kenneth Thomas Sain. Betty’s life centered on her family and friends. She loved people and never met a stranger, but she did meet the Queen of England on one of her many travels. She and Walt loved the Ford Business and the many friends they made throughout the years. Betty also loved the Arkansas Children’s Hospital and her volunteer work at the Arkansas Arts Center, the Old State House and other volunteer activities. She enjoyed spending time at the lake and the race track and particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandsons. Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Phil Schmidt; her daughter, Suzanne Bennett of Dallas, Texas; grandsons, Bennett Schmidt of Atlanta, Georgia, and Philip and Thomas Schmidt; her only niece, Linda Berry and husband Reverend Bruce Berry of Raleigh, North Carolina; two grandnieces, Monica Martins de Silva and her family of London, England and Leslie Kaloostian and her family of Fayetteville, North Carolina. The family wishes to extend deep gratitude to Dr. Joe Pevahouse, Dr. Barry Baskin, Gentry Daniels, Dorothy and Robert Johnson, and the staff’s at Turning Point Home Care and Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Center for all of their wonderful care and compassion. There will be a general visitation at Ruebel Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. followed by a reception at her daughter’s home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be a graveside service at Pinecrest Memorial Park on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. officiated by Reverend Daniel Kirkpatrick. Pallbearers will be Bennett Schmidt, Philip Schmidt, Thomas Schmidt, Phil Schmidt, Warren Murphy and Reverend Bruce Berry.
