Biography: Joyce Schneider Ehrenberg passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Born May 1, 1924 in Little Rock, AR, to Esther and Harry Schneider, Mrs. Ehrenberg spent most of her life in the Little Rock metro area where she donated countless hours to community, civic, cultural and religious organizations. After graduation from Little Rock High School, Mrs. Ehrenberg attended the University of Texas in Austin. With the war, she returned home to help in the family’s business, Schneider’s Tailoring and later attended Little Rock Junior College. Mrs. Ehrenberg was active in her three children’s school PTA’s, Temple B’nai Israel Sisterhood where she served twice as President, and served as president of WIC. One of her proudest moments was serving on the Women’s Emerging Committee that worked to re-open the schools during the 1957 school integration crisis. An avid gardener, bridge player and accomplished seamstress, Mrs. Ehrenberg was pre-deceased by her husband of 65 years, Harry L. Ehrenberg, Sr., her brother, Charles Schneider, their parents Esther and Harry Schneider, and her oldest granddaughter Michelle Jungkind. Survivors include: her children, Lynda Jungkind and husband, Johnny, of Ridgeland, MS; Terry Heard and husband, Ken, of Atlanta, GA; and Harry L. Ehrenberg, Jr. of Little Rock, AR; six grandchildren, Alyson Heard; David Heard and his wife, Valerie; Morris Ehrenberg; Katherine Ehrenberg; Paige Watson and her husband Chris; Jennifer Boccarossa; three great grandchildren, Austin and Olivia Boccarossa and Caleb Heard; a sister Dena Schneider Bock and her husband Jay of New York,and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services for Mrs. Ehrenberg will be at 2pm, Friday, May 22 at Temple B’nai Israel with Rabbi Eugene Levy officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the home of Mrs. Ehrenberg, Thursday, May 21, 5pm-8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Central High National Historic Site, Heifer International or Sisterhood Temple B’nai Israel.
