Biography: Nancy Lou Bates Kelley, age 82, of Little Rock went to be with the Lord, May 19, 2009 after a recent diagnosis of cancer. She was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Rena and Rueben Bates. A kind and loving woman fiercely devoted to her family and friends. Nancy gave many years of faithful volunteer service to the March of Dimes and was the founder of the Baby Book. She was extremely active in the Democratic Party including, being on the campaign staff of former Governor Bill Clinton and later President Clinton. Her service and involvement with both Pulaski Heights and later Second Presbyterian Churches was an important part of her life. She is preceded in death by her parent’s, her husband, Alfred T. Kelley, and son, Craig N. Kelley. Nancy is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, William and Dorris Bates of Tulsa, OK and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give special thanks to Mark Scott and his parents for their love and devotion to Nancy. Additionally, our gratitude to the staff of Chenal Heights Assisted Living Center for their wonderful care. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Ruebel Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at Roselawn Memorial Park.
