Biography: Elizabeth (Liz) Field Cheney, of Little Rock, passed away Sunday May 10, 2009. She was the daughter of James H. and Martha Porter Field and the widow of Orville C. Cheney Jr. A brother Lamar Field also preceded her in death. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1924. She was born in Hope but her family moved to Little Rock after the death of her mother in 1922. She lived with her grandmother Porter until her death in 1937. Elizabeth worked at Trinity Hospital during the war until it closed in 1954. She then went to work for Aetna Life where she was Secretary to the late Gordon Campbell. After his death she was Production Supervisor until her retirement in 1975. In 1956 she started her volunteer work with the Red Cross and volunteered at the Old State Hospital, the VA Hospital and The Chapter House. In 1997 she began as a volunteer at Doctors Hospital and continued after St Vincent bought the hospital. She had served as Moderator of Presbyterian women at First Church, President of the R. D. Adams Bible class, and later as Secretary Treasurer of the class. She was a deacon. Also she had been Secretary of the Auxiliary Board of Presbyterian Village. Elizabeth was a member of Esther Chapter #34 of the Eastern Star, AARP chapter #34 and the Little Rock Razorback Club. She was an avid Razorback fan and attended the football games for 50 years. She is survived by her son Mike, a niece Beth Field Wassell and her husband Randy of Jacksonville Florida. She is also survived by her cousins Jim and Lillian Porter and Geri Chandler all of Little Rock. As well as nephews and nieces; Janet and husband George Hyde of Porter Texas, Jack and wife LaRonda (Skeet) Cheney of North Little Rock, Carol Lee Wiley and husband Bo of San Diego California, and Ann Chotard of Little Rock. A visitation will be held Tuesday May 12 from 530 p.m. to 730 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home. Interment will be Wednesday May 13, 2009 at 1000 a.m. at Little Rock National Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service at 1100 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church located 800 Scott St. in Little Rock.
