Biography: Barbara Grundfest Bauman, 80, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on April 8, 2009. She was born in Little Rock on April 3, 1929. Bobby is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Stanley M. Bauman, Jr.; her children, David Bauman and his wife Kathy, Merrill Bauman Stern and her husband, Michael, and Steve Bauman and his wife Jill; her grandchildren Katie Bauman and her husband, Adam Eckstein, Annie Bauman, Jennifer Stern Adair and her husband, Jordan, Lisa Stern and her fiancée, Alex Fay, Jay Bauman and Barrie Bauman; and her great-granddaughter, Gracie Ruth Eckstein. She is also survived by her cousin, Janet Mayersohn, her sister-in-law, Judy Grundfest, her close friends, Norma Jean and Gene Lockwood, her daughter-in-law, Susan Bauman, her friend and wonderful caregiver, Bertha Roberts, and many nieces, nephews and cousins who meant so much to her. She was predeceased by her parents, Dave Grundfest, Sr. and Maurine Frauenthal Grundfest, and her brother, Dave Grundfest, Jr. Bobby lived her life in passionate support of the things she knew were important. She passionate about her country and her city, although she and Bud spent twenty wonderful winters at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic where they made many close friends. She was passionate about her Judaism and Congregation B’nai Israel in Little Rock, of which she was a life long member, and she passed that passion on to her children and grandchildren. She was passionate about equal rights for all people which she demonstrated to her children in many ways including her work on the STOP campaign. But most of all, Bobby was passionate about her family, and especially her husband, Bud, who were the center of her life. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., today at Congregation B’nai Israel, 3700 N. Rodney Parham Road. Burial will be in Jewish Oakland Cemetery.
