Dr. Thomas completed his training in surgery at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. In 1949, returning to Little Rock Dr. Thomas was named Chief of Surgery of Missouri Pacific Hospital, a part-time position he held while maintaining a private practice in the Donaghey Building on Main Street. I am greatly saddened about the passing of Dr. Thomas. He was a very personable, and, compassionate man. He performed my physical when I was hired for Missouri-Pacific in 1977, and he took care of me when I got hurt on the job. I know that all of the railoaders, especially the Brother of Maintainence of Way, track gangs, and rail gang members will miss him terribly. He was such a good person to know. God Bless him and his family.

I am greatly saddened at the death of Dr. Peter Thomas. We were a MoPac family. Dr. "Pete" was the finest doctor I ever met. He saved my brother's arm after it had been mistreated by an intern at an emergency room. He saw me when I fainted during the polio epidemic and assured my parents that I had only fainted. He treated me for 2d and 3d degree burns from the sun. He operated on my other brother successfully. He oversaw my Father's pancreatic surgery who miraculously lived another 13 years. Most importantly he kept my my Mother informed throughout the surgery and advised and comforted her during the recovery of my Father. To get my Father to the hospital from Batesville, he said: "Only if Dr. Thomas is there"; I called Dr. Pete--he met us at the door.
What a wonderful man!
My prayers and thoughts are with the family.

Peter Jr. and Family...I lost a dear friend and a man who I would have been very glad to say he was like my Grandfather. I met Dr. Pete in 1973 shortly after I moved to Arkansas,He treated me as a son and gave me much advice about my health and just everyday things. I followed his advice in many things. He was correct about many things. It's not going to be the same with him in my life. Her is up there with Sanci and Cornie, and they are very happy together I'm sure
