Biography: Frances Rossner Schmand, 90, died Saturday, March 21. She was a lifelong resident of Little Rock, born on April 22, 1918 to Margaret Jones Rossner and Fred Rossner, Jr. She was predeceased by husband Delbert A Schmand and sister, Louise Wanger. At the University of Arkansas, she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority and was elected Saint Patricia by the College of Engineering. After graduation in 1937, she worked as a bookkeeper and substitute teacher. She will be remembered most as beloved wife, mother, grandmother, “Bingo” and “GG”. Frances volunteered as a leader for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts when her children were young. She was an active participant in Homemaker’s Club, Engineer Wives’ Club, and NSPE Auxiliary. Frances served as a member of the state Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. She loved traveling with husband Del in the years he served as President of NSPE. A long time member of First Lutheran Church, she was active in LWML, Altar Guild, and choir. She served as Sunday School Secretary for many years. Survivors include four children: Del Schmand, Jr. (Mary Ann), JoAnne Holmes (Ron), Jane Carter (Ken) and Eric Schmand; Six grandchildren, Nikki Cummings (Heath), Emily Holmes (Paul Haught), Margaret Holmes, Nolan Carter (Liz Di’Prince), Brad Carter (Amber) and Lauren Carter (Zach Johnson) and three great-grandsons, Dominic, Dylan and Barrett. The family wishes to express their gratitude and love to Frances’ caregiver Rosa Gentry,she was our constant friend and helper. Visitation will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home Monday, March 23 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at First Lutheran Church, Tuesday, March 24 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery.
