Biography: Martin Leroy “M.L.” Coleman, Jr., beloved husband of NanJo Corbitt Coleman of Maumelle died Tuesday, May 23, 2006. He was born April 14, 1924 in Tallulah, La. to the late Martin L., Sr. and Lorena Parker Coleman. Mr. Coleman has lived in Monroe, La., North Little Rock, and for the past 8 years in Maumelle. He served honorably during World War II and after the war became a general contactor building electrical power plants and shopping centers all over the country. He was still an active businessman with his dear friend and partner since 1978, Gordon Fendley. ML’s hobby and his passion, besides NanJo and his family, was physics. In his spare time, he studied physics and nuclear theory and developed an hypothesis naming the Eptron as the elementary particle of an atom; that represented the culmination of his research and experimentation. His book, Demystifying Electricity, was published last year. ML Coleman was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church and the Bob Millett Bible Sunday School Class. He was owner of several businesses, including Delta-Coleman and Heritage Corporation of America. He was a businessman, a scholar, a philanthropist, and a devoted husband, father, and friend. ML is survived by his wife, NanJo, his daughter Christy Donnelly and husband Jay of Reston, Va, daughter Lynn Harrison and husband John of Sheridan; son, Paul Corbitt of Little Rock; son James Summerlin of Pearson, Ga.; grandchildren Jo Margaret Bennett and Jason of Memphis, Trey Biddy of Fayetteville, Laura Biddy of Little Rock, Suzanne Biddy of Fayetteville and Carly and Hannah Donnelly of Reston. Cate Bennett of Memphis is his only great-grandchild. Survivors also include his sisters-in-law, Mignon Xander and Ralph of Mt. Solon, Va. and Donna Grantham and Tony of Douglas, Ga., an aunt, Elizabeth “Tee” Jacobs, nephews, Drury Bynum and Linda, Jimmy Bynum and Judy, Rigby Maupin and Corlis; nieces Martha Whitaker and Dr. Murray, and Susan Harper and Don, a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins who affectionately referred to him as “Unk”, and business partner Gordon Fendley and wife Judy of Little Rock. A memorial service to celebrate the life of this precious man will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 11 AM at Lakewood United Methodist Church in North Little Rock. Rev. Carroll Jackson and Dr. Clint Burleson will officiate and the eulogy will be presented by Deacon Bill Nolan of Immaculate Conception. After the service the family will remain at the church to visit with friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Lakewood United Methodist Church Building Fund or LUMC Bob Millett Bible Class.
