Biography: Alice Young Camp, age 100, a lifelong resident of Little Rock, died at her home on Thursday January 15, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rose Young. And sister of the late Laura Safferstone. Mrs. Camp graduated from high school in Little Rock and took some college courses. She worked for the Junkind Company of Little Rock In the mid 1960’s she met Dr. Walter Camp of the Little Rock Air Force Base and married. They were happily married about 35 years. They enjoyed boating and traveling this country and other countries. They vacationed in Israel, England, Europe, Mexico, South America, the Caribbean, Egypt and Morocco. Mrs. Camp enjoyed climbing Pinnacle Mountain in Pulaski County Arkansas. Mrs. Camp was a member of Congregation B’Nai Israel in Little Rock She was independent minded, loving, charitable, kind, fun loving, and cheerful. She was loyal to her family and friends. Mrs. Camp is survived by a nephew and niece; Steve and Maryland Safferstone. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p. m., Sunday January 18, 2009 at Ruebel Funeral Home at 6313 West Markham St. in Little Rock followed by a brief graveside service at Oakland Jewish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Congregation B’Nai Israel. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com

We talked to Alice in December of 2008 and had a nice conversation. We are fortunate that we had that last opportunity to speak with her. Alice was one of our most cherised friends in Little Rock and we will certainly miss her. She was a very special lady! Our deepest sympathy at your loss.
