Biography: After a full and blessed life of 88 years, Betty Alice Baldwin Webster, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Betty was born November 9, 1920, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the only child of Ona Bell and Horace Lynn Baldwin. She graduated from Oklahoma A & M (Oklahoma State) where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and active in dramatic and musical productions. Betty married Lt. William H. Webster on May 2, 1942, at First Methodist Church of Galveston, Texas. They lived in San Antonio, Texas; Honolulu, Hawaii; Louisville, Kentucky; and Winter Park, Florida. Betty and Bill have lived in Little Rock for the past 39 years. For more than 30 years, Betty was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was active in Chapter I of the P.E.O. society, Aesthetic Club, Friday Book Club and the Decorative Arts Museum. Betty and Bill were members of the Country Club of Little Rock. A loving wife and mother, Betty was a highly accomplished bridge player, avid gardener and inveterate traveler. Bill and Betty had made 72 overseas trips in the past 50 years. Betty is survived by her husband Bill; her son William Henry Webster Jr. of Falls Church, Virginia, and his partner Barbara Branyan; and her daughter Alice Lynn Webster Oram, son-in-law Rod and granddaughter Celeste Alice of Auckland, New Zealand. Betty and Bill’s son Michael Warren Webster died in 1999. Betty is survived by two nieces, Marybeth Webster of La Grange, Illinois, and Julie Webster of Northampton, Massachusetts, and two cousins, Jack V. Bell of Boulder, Colorado, and Robert H. Bell of Denver, Colorado. Betty’s memorial service will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, January 3, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2223 Durwood Road, Little Rock 72207.
