Biography: Joseph Anthony Scerbo, age 63, of Little Rock, died Thursday, October 23, 2008. Joe was born in Boonton, New Jersey to the late Anna Aloi and Joseph Anthony Scerbo. Joe graduated from Dickinson High School, Jersey City, New Jersey, where he also continued working for his father in the family floral business. He was married to Judith Buchanan of Jersey City, New Jersey. They later moved to Little Rock where they settled to raise a family. He worked for Friday’s Florist from 1969 to 1977 when he created Joseph’s Florist, becoming one of Little Rock’s well known florists. He sold Joseph’s in 1989 and later worked with the City of Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department, Horticultural Division. Joe was a 36 plus years member of Good Counsel Catholic Church where he, as an expert woodworker, built several items for the church. Besides his ability to fix anything, Big Daddy, as he was called by his grandchildren, loved his vegetable and flower gardens, John Wayne movies and was well known for his knowledge of trivial information. Joe, Big Daddy, had a wonderful sense of humor and was happy making others happy. The family would like to thank Dr. Brad P. Blatz and his staff for their wonderful care. Joe is survived by his wife Judith “Judi” Buchanan Scerbo of Little Rock, one daughter Gina Bilger and husband John and their children, Jack, Ellie Joseph all of Little Rock, two brothers; Fred Scerbo and wife Patricia of Brick, New Jersey, Frank Scerbo and wife Susan of Birmingham, Michigan, six nieces; Denise Zemanovich (Gary), Gerilyn Aspres (Anthony), Lori Colosimo (Kevin), Heidi Iversen (Michael), Jenny Fehr (Scott), Holly Scerbo, two nephews; James and Joseph Jordan Scerbo, many great-neices and nephews, and special family Denise and Andy Caldwell and sons; Phillip and Adam. There will be a visitation Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 5p.m. at the Ruebel Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church on Monday at 11 a.m. officiated by Reverend Jack Vu and Reverend Richard Zawadzki.
