Biography: Sidney A. Newcomb, 87, of Little Rock died on Thursday, February 23, 2006. He was born in Little Rock, the only child of S.J. and Martha West Newcomb. He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy and attended Cornell University. He married Lillian Donohue on November 4, 1943 and she preceded him in death on June 15, 1997. He was a WWII Air Force Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. From 1947-1962 he was sales manager for Arkansas Traveler Boats for the U.S. and Canada before serving as President of Newcomb Corp. until his retirement in 1972. From 1972 to 1981 he was employed by Mechanics Lumber Company. During the years from 1984-1996 he served as a Justice of the Peace for Pulaski County, District 6. He was a former member of the Little Rock Sales & Marketing Club and the Little Rock Country Club. He was also past director of the Arkansas Lumber Dealers Assn and director and charter member of the Arkansas Marine Trade Assn and Texas Marine Trade Assn. Sid is survived by his children, Robert Newcomb and his wife Nancy of Little Rock, Brian Newcomb of Menlo Park, CA, Deirdre Newcomb, Barry Newcomb and his wife Louise, Kevin Newcomb and his wife Daina, and Daryl Newcomb all of Little Rock and his three grandchildren Bailey Newcomb and Brodie and Neil Newcomb. There will be a private burial prior to a visitation to be held from 2-4:00 p.m. Saturday at the Ruebel Funeral Home.
