Biography: Martha Jean Rogers Nunnally, 96, of Little Rock died Wednesday, August 13, 2008. She was born on November 18, 1911, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to Dr. James Sterling and Sallie Curry Rogers. She graduated in one of the first classes from the new Little Rock Senior (Central) High and received her A.A. degree from Central Baptist College, Conway. She married William Frank Nunnally in 1932. Mrs. Nunnally had been an active member of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church since first attending there in 1916. Her great loves, besides her family, were gardening and traveling, especially to Yellowstone National Park. She could do anything “her hand findeth to do,” from sewing to small electrical repairs to cooking candies and other special treats. Mrs. Nunnally was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Velna Campbell; a brother, J.S. Rogers, Jr.; a son-in-law, Dr. Jim Basinger; and a granddaughter, Marsha Basinger. She is survived by her children: Shirley Basinger of Jonesboro, Lynn Blagg (Gene) of Little Rock, and William R. (Bill) Nunnally (Phyllis) of Austin; grandchildren: Matt Basinger, Jennifer Wenger (Keith), Stephen Blagg, and Elizabeth Thomas (Troy); and great grandchildren: Jonathan and Rachel Wenger, Abbie and Joseph Thomas. Other survivors include a sister, Mary Louise Gragson of California, and other family: Martha C. Weatherall, Jim Rogers (Donna), Vivian Gerlach (“T”), and numerous other family and friends. There will be a family graveside service at 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 15, at Roselawn Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Pulaski Heights Baptist Church with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. General visitation will also be available from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.
