Biography: Jack David McClain, 81, Carmel, Indiana, passed away on his 81st birthday July 14, 2008. He was born on July 14, 1927, in Shelbyville, Indiana, where he graduated from high school in 1945. He served his country in the US Navy during WW II. During his career, he held a variety of positions mostly in Shelbyville and Little Rock, Arkansas, among them as Shelby County Treasurer. He was a member of the Indianapolis Scottish Society, and being a McClain, loved anything from Scotland and England. His faith was always an important part of his life, starting with the Presbyterian Church in Shelbyville. In Little Rock, he was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral for several decades. In May of 2005, he married Janet Aldrich McDonald and made St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Indianapolis his new church home. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and her 5 daughters Janis Shaffer, Ann Musser, Karen Walker, Amy McDonald and Ellen Hines and 8 grandchildren. His brother, Bill McClain, who resides in Cape Town, South Africa as well as Jack David’s 7 nieces and nephews, will remember him fondly. His dear friend, Bev Elliot, will also miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Cox McClain, a nephew, and his parents, Harry and Mary McClain. Jack David will forever be known for his gentleness, warm innocence, and sense of humor. His life will be celebrated in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 6050 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis, on Wednesday July 23, 2008. Visitation will be held at noon with the services following at 1 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008, in the Mount Holly Cemetery, at 1200 Broadway St., Little Rock, Arkansas.
