Biography: Ralph Joseph Crowder, 79, of Little Rock died Wednesday, June 11, 2008. He was born June 22, 1928 in McAlester, Oklahoma to the late Ralph and Josephine Burba Crowder. He was an active member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. Joe graduated from Central High School in Muskogee, Oklahoma, receiving All State Football honors in 1946 while positioned as tight end. He went on to the University of Oklahoma at Norman where he played both football and basketball. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He spent over 40 years in the insurance business, a career culminated by owning his own agency. He was an active member of the Greater Little Optimist Club. He loved to hunt and golf, at times combining both sports due to an occasional errant tee shot- much to the chagrin of the foursome behind him! Joe was preceded in death by his brother, William Crowder, a son, David Crowder, and his wife of 56 years, Sally Williams Crowder. He is survived by his brother, Eddie Crowder and his wife Kate of Boulder, Colorado; son Jeff Crowder and his wife Beth of Conway; daughter Ann Tarwater and her husband Rusty of Texarkana, Texas; daughter Elizabeth Doshier and her husband Bob of Harrison; and seven grandchildren who all loved their “ Papa Joe” including: Sarah Akridge, D.J. Crowder, Drew and Annie Tarwater, Jackson and Claire Doshier, and Ella Crowder. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, June 16th at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church Endowment Fund. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com

Dear Elizabeth and Ann,
So sorry to hear about your Dad. He raised two great girls, so I know he must have been a great Dad.
