He was an active member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. Joe graduated from Central High School in Muskogee, Oklahoma, receiving All State Football honors in 1946 while positioned as tight end. He spent over 40 years in the insurance business, a career culminated by owning his own agency. He was an active member of the Greater Little Optimist Club. He is survived by his brother, Eddie Crowder and his wife Kate of Boulder, Colorado; son Jeff Crowder and his wife Beth of Conway; daughter Ann Tarwater and her husband Rusty of Texarkana, Texas; daughter Elizabeth Doshier and her husband Bob of Harrison; and seven grandchildren who all loved their “ Papa Joe” including: Sarah Akridge, D.J.
