Biography: Norma Louise Hartman, 82 died peacefully in her sleep at Parkway Village on Friday morning, May 30, 2008. She lived a full and rich life. She grew up a true southern belle in Brookhaven, Mississippi where she and 14 of her closest friends formed a life long club called the “Firecrackers”. She attended Brookhaven High School where she was head cheerleader for four years and the darling of all who knew her. She married the boy next door, Bud Hartman, who was a World War II fighter pilot. She became an Air Force wife. They had three children and moved all over the world. She was a wonderful wife and mother, as well as a Sunday school teacher, Girl Scout leader, PTA president, Base Youth Activities Director, and host of the children’s TV program “Shinabarger” in the Philippines. Her interests included: oil painting, poetry, flower arranging, antiques, gourmet cooking, arts and crafts, playing the piano, traveling, and entertaining. She was a proud and faithful member of The Ladies of the Club in Dayton Ohio. Norma is survived by her husband of 64 years, Albert “Bud” Hartman; her son, Sid Hartman of Orlando and his wife, Janet and their twins, Lauren and Philip; her daughter, Melissa Bearden of Little Rock her daughter, Ashley Bearden of NYC; her son, Brian Bearden and his wife, Sabra of North Little Rock ; her daughter, Heather Russell of Dallas and her husband, Allen and their daughter, Kelly Schwartz of Washington, DC and her husband, Roy: and one sister, Lynda Murray of Birmingham, AL. A memorial service will be held in Brookhaven, Mississippi on Saturday, June 28, 2008. Dear Mr. Hartman & Family,

You have our deepest sympathies and condolences at your loss. We totally don't know how much she meant to you but we hope that your pain is assuaged by the relief that she is in a better place.

It was our great honor to interview you for AETN's In Their Words WWII project. Your interview is a wonderful testament to your love for your wife. Thank you again for sharing it with us.
