Biography: Anna Margaret Zornik, age 15 of Little Rock, passed away Saturday, May 17. She was born August 1, 1992 to Marilyn and Peter Zornik. Other survivors include grandparents, Regina and Joseph Zornik of Coconut Creek, Florida; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved her dearly. Anna Margaret was preceded in death by her grandmother (Mammie), Willodene Priest Michie. Special thanks to Theresa Carmichael – her caretaker and best friend, who gave her unconditional love and was her best buddy. Also to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, doctors, nurses and staff of the Hematology/Oncology Clinic and 3 Gold. Anna Margaret participated for a short time in Special Olympics Arkansas. She won a gold medal in bowling. In 2007 she played for the The Red Sox in the Miracle League. Anna Margaret’s favorite part of a sporting event was when it was over and her dad would treat her to something dipped, battered and fried, at her eatery of choice of which there were many. Anna Margaret loved music. She sang like nobody was listening (off-key and loud), and danced like nobody was watching. Toby Keith was her favorite artist. God Bless Him. Anna Margaret is dancing and singing with the angels and her Mammie in Heaven. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 20 at Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21 at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church, with Monsignor Royce Thomas as the celebrant. Honorary pallbearers are John Braune, Keith Konecny, Ren Bressinck, Alan Miller, Ed Smith, Ron Carmichael, Tom Kane, Glenn Davis and Jim Studdard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Allen School for Exceptional Children, 824 N. Tyler, Little Rock, AR 72205 or to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Cancer Research, 800 Marshall, Little Rock, AR 72202. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.

Mr. & Mrs. Zornik, I was deeply saddened when I heard that my Anna Margaret was gone. Whenever her class came skating I would always ask about her. I will always cherish the time I had with her over at Chicot Elementary and seeing the way she would interact with daddy whenever he dropped her off at school. There always was a kiss, a hug and a pat on the back. She was truly special to all that she met. Keep God first and know that she is no longer suffering but in a better place. Love, and you will be in my prayers.

Dear Anna Margaret,

What a pleasure it was having you as a part of my life. I will always remember the days of after school and making you laugh by "saying buh bye honey", kind of like mamma used to do when she dropped you off. I remember you giving me hugs with big pats on the back, kind of like your daddy. You showed us with your smile and your special heart how much you loved those in you life, well maybe with the exception of snack time (just kidding). Heaven has a new angel and her name is Anna Magaret. I may be a while before I see that beautiful smile again, but until then, I will remember it in my heart.

Love,

Phillip

Uncle Pete and Aunt Marilyn,

We are so sad for your loss and to the loss of the family. You, Aunt Marilyn, and Anna Margaret have taught our family about the love of your child. I remember playing with Anna Margaret as a baby in Tennessee, dancing with her at my wedding where she wouldn't give up the spoons, to seeing how happy she was playing with my black beaded necklace...a hug from her could brighten your day in an instant. She had an amazing spirit, willing to sing a chorus of Happy Birthday at a moments notice. Anna Margaret makes me proud to be a special education teacher and we are so lucky that she shared her life with ours. We are so sorry we can't be there to celebrate her spirit with you...we will say a special prayer for her and we hope to see you soon.

All our love,
Katie, Brian, and Emily

Dearest Peter and Marilyn,
Having also lost a child I know of the agony that grips your heart and you will forever deal with when you celebrate her life and the time you had with her. I know words are inadequate in setting aside the sorrow of your breaking hearts and that only faith and time give you the solace so desperately needed. May you find the inner strength to guide you on the voyage of emotional turbulance your daughter's passing has set you on. My very deepest sympathy

I now understand the message that Anna Margaret was giving to both of you. You thought it was for the help you gave to her with placing her feet onto that stool. Her reply was "Great Job". That was a message about her life and God helped her to pass it to you. You both have done a Great Job and Anna Margaret wanted you to know that. She was a happy girl and thank you for sharing her with me and Josh. The little stories that you have shared, will forever be in our hearts.
